How this comparison works
We price your tariff at the usage you enter: usage × unit rate plus 365 days × standing charge. We then price the current Ofgem price-cap rates for your region and payment method at exactly the same usage, so the difference reflects your rates, not a typical household. The gap is split into the part caused by the unit rate and the part caused by the standing charge.
Economy 7 users are compared against Ofgem's combined multi-rate level using your average unit rate. See our methodology and data sources.
Common questions
Does a result above the benchmark mean I'm overpaying?
Not necessarily. The Ofgem cap is a regulated benchmark for default tariffs, not the cheapest deal on the market. It tells you where your tariff sits relative to that regulated level.
Does the AI change any numbers?
No. Every figure is calculated by Unit Rate.co.uk from your inputs and official Ofgem data. The optional explanation only describes those figures, and the calculator works fully without it.
